PHILIPPINES-THAILAND
As a Filipino national, I have visa-free access to Thailand, which gave me an opportunity to travel there frequently. Flying to Thailand from the Philippines only takes 3-4 hours. But this time, I came for a 3-day detour before going to another country, the Maldives.
COMMUNITY
Thailand became the world's most visited country in 2024, setting the record for the most number of visitors due to its welcoming environment, accessible transportation, eye-catching shopping centers, rich cultural tourism, and gastronomic offers that bring you to experience at a very affordable rate.
SHENANIGANS
So as a nomad, I did utilize my quick visit by exploring the must-see places in Bangkok. A popular opinion of one of my favorite trips is, of course, their famous Pad Thai and their spicy cuisine, which suits my cravings!
But what highlighted my stay was more about travel. I was living like a local in the streets of Bangkok as I rode an express train near my hotel until I bumped into MBK. I stopped in, and this enormous, cunning statue caught my eye!
WHERE TO'S
As I moved further, I discovered the Bangkok Art and Culture Center, which is in between MBK and Siam Discovery Center. It's a 9-floor museum building that showcases small to large exhibits with different categories and themes, including history (which is very informative). I went there directly with no reservations required.
Bangkok Art and Culture Centre is a contemporary arts center with features of history, music, culture, film, theater, and education formed into art. They have exhibits, craft shops, bookstores, and an art library.
They are open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 10AM to 8PM, except on Mondays, New Year, and Songkran holidays.
Side by side, you'll appreciate how incredible the museum is, built as if you're in another dimension of the world.
The famous Mona Lisa chroma is my favorite feature, and the Winter Olympics that happened in Beijing, China, in 2022 was quite memorable to organize a big event in the Philippines related to this back to my previous work.
There was a section wherein theater or film was being rehearsed, which I would like to see, but I was unable to watch the actual set performance during my visit. Their concerts/plays are chargeable as their rates vary.
As an art fanatic, the sightseeing took me about 2 hours to finish scanning the gallery. By the way, the circular-shaped stair gave an illusion of walking forever! I'm in shock and in awe to see captivating the sceneries Thailand offers.
After the trip, I went to see some of the nearby temples, which are just a couple of stations away from the railway stations. Admission is also free.
LOCATION
Bangkok Art and Culture Centre is located at Pathumwan Intersection, facing MBK Center and Siam Discovery Centre. They are located at 939 Rama I Road, Bangkok, Thailand.
If you go by train, the BACC 3rd floor entrance is connected to BTS, the National Stadium Station.
