Just when you're thinking summer is over as the rainy season comes in, it is not over at Puerto Galera. There are numerous islands to wander in the Philippines. But if you want to go somewhere near Manila, Puerto Galera should be on your list. They are one of the nearest beaches from the metro. A small island in the province of Oriental Mindoro filled with crystal clear waters and bushy mountains in an urban island seascape.
According to history, Puerto Galera is known as the "Port of Galleons" after the Spanish seafarers discovered in the 16th century that used to be a safe haven during their journey.

The place looks like a smaller Boracay by size and structure. There are limited hotels and townhouses nearby designed like a family structured house in terms of the look and adequate space unlike the huge international hotels.
There are places in the sea where sailing ferries are docked for transporting goods and services. Wide Tricycles with a space for bags are a mode of transportation. Enough to fit luggage and bags on hand.

We rented a townhouse for 2 nights through Airbnb. It was a 2-floor house with a sala, dining area, toilet, balcony and a room to sleep. Enough for a complete set. I have to say that I rate them 1.8 out of 5 as we were one of the unlucky guests at the moment, we paid full but when we checked-in, there was no electricity and water at all. It seemed like they have a timer from water shortage that water and lights turn on at night or early afternoon. Given the case, we have to earn much water to save up for later in the secluded walls. But local residents show their hospitality by sharing their water resources when in scarcity.
We didn't get the chance to join the daytime activities as we just went to the beach and take photos of the fine white sands and dark stones. But we had a quick getaway on the nearby attractions. Love the beach vibe with my swimsuit though!
There are a number of adventures to do here in the island. Start the day of with island hopping, surfing, scuba diving, sailing, swimming, snorkeling (to witness the school of fish), rock climbing, hiking, beach ball games, and activities at night such as lighting bonfire, listening to music, toasting liquors and and star gazing. Partying is not on the list since houses close early as 7PM. Like a real province, there is no life at the party. Just tranquil ambiance. Something different but interesting, right?
If you want a less busy, serene experience, visit Puerto Galera. Puerto Galera is a tropical paradise to discover limitless beauty of nature in a haven scheme.
